Joint Fire Committee Meeting

Almond Fire Department

Tuesday August 31, 2021

7:00PM

Present were: Roger Hetzel, Matt Lemke, Kip Gutke, Carl Schmidt, Brian Roehrborn, Kevin Fenske, and Carol Smith.

Also, present were: Chief Dan Folan, Doug Curwen, Heather Burns

Meeting called to order by Chairman Roger Hetzel at 7:00pm

Had Election of Officers – Kip Gutke made a motion, seconded by K. Fenske to nominate Roger  Hetzel as Chairman. No other nominations.  After three Roger was voted in by unanimous vote.

R. Hetzel made a motion, Kevin Fenske to nominate Brian Roehrnborn for Vice Chair.  After three no other nominations. Brian was voted in by unanimous vote.

Discussion was held on the budget for 2022.  Brian Roehrnborn made a motion, seconded by Carl Schmidt to increase the budget for 2022 by 8% and the next five years by 2%.  Motion approved 5-0.

Fire Chief Dan Folan updated us on the new truck.  Truck could arrive the end of October or the first part of November.  Earlier than anticipated.

Dan asked what he should be asking for 1404 for a selling price when it gets to that point.  The committee suggested $4000.00.  It will be put out there as soon as we get the new truck.

Doug Curwen gave a presentation on the cadet program the department is starting up.  The committee gave its full approval and will be taken back to the Town and Village Boards for approval.

Discussion was held on the Chicken/Pork chop dinner to be held on September 12th at the American Legion Hall.  This is the Fire Departments annual fundraiser.

The committee would like to see the Fire Department Capital Improvement CD taken out and put into a Capital Improvement money market account.  Interest is very similar.  Matt Lemke made a motion, seconded by Kip Gutke to move this money from the CD to a money market account when it comes due in January.  Motion approved 5-0.

When anything equipment or anything else is sold from the fire department, the money is to go into the money market account to be used for equipment as needed for the department,

Kip Gutke made a motion, seconded by Matt Lemke to adjourn.
