Almond Village Board Regular Meeting

September 9, 2019

Present: J. Riggenbach, B. Roehrborn, R. Burns, H. Burns, C. Smith, K Olsen, K Trzebiatowski,

Visitors:  David Schauer, Larry Oathout

Pledge of Allegiances

President K. Trzebiatowski called the meeting to order at 6:25PM.

B. Roehrborn made a motion, seconded by J. Riggenbach to accept the August minutes.  Motion approved 4-0.

Treasurer’s Report:  H. Burns gave the treasurer’s report.  J. Riggenbach made a motion, seconded by K. Olsen to accept the Treasurer’s report.  Motion approved 4-0.

Finance report was given by R. Burns.  B. Roehrborn made a motion, seconded by K. Olsen to accept the finance report.  Motion approved 4-0.

Fire – R. Burns presented the 2020 budget for the Town and Village of Almond Fire department for approval.  No changes from last year.  J. Riggenbach made a motion, seconded by K. Olsen to approve the Town and Village of Almond Fire Budget for 2020.  Motion approved 4-0.

Library – Larry Oatout, Portage County Public Library director gave a presentation on how the library has been performing.  He asked if the library could reposition the drop box for the library in a different location to get it out of the elements better.  The board gave the go ahead.  It will be located on the flower planter, under the eaves.

Rezoning – B. Roehrborn made a motion, seconded by J. Riggenbach to approve the recommendation brought to the board to change the Begg’s property on the east side of the village from residential to Class B1 Business Land.  Motion approved 4-0.

Public Works – Roads – There is a meeting coming to the county for possible funding for some of our streets.  The committee will be looking into this.  D. Schauer asked the board if he could bring back Dan Folan to help him with rodding the sewers September 23rd thru the 29th.  The board said yes as this was part of the agreement when Dave was hired to help train him.

Water way on the East side by the Sanchez property will have to wait til spring as it is getting too late to do it now.   Hudziak did not come when he said and hasn’t answered our calls to let us know when he would be here.  The board decided to get someone else to get the job done.

Ordinance/Personnel – None

Budget workshop – Will hold the budget workshop on October 14th at 7:00pm after the regular board meeting.

Equipment – The generator is almost done, so will be getting it back.  Both snowplow pushers need new blades.  K. Olsen made a motion, seconded by B. Roehrborn to get these repaired and ready for the snow.  Motion approved 4-0.    Ed Schultz can help to replace them. It was decided that the old sewer rodder is in too bad of shape to try to sell.  K. Olsen made a motion, seconded by B. Roherborn to scrap the old sewer rodder.  Motion passed 4-0.

Big Plow truck has some hydraulic leaks.  We will ask C. Schmidt if he can look at this truck and see what it needs to keep it up.  He has done this in the past.

Dave was given the ok to mow the grass on the properties that were issued notices to get them cut.

Zoning – One electrical/AC repair request.

Cemetery – Sold a couple of plots.

Beautification – None

Tire Roundup – There will be a tire roundup at the dump this year.  Belmont will also participate as in the past.  It will be held October 2nd, 5th, 9th, 16th, 19th, 23rd, and 26th.  Flyers can be picked up at the dump.

Resolution – B. Roehrborn made a motion, seconded by R. Burns to approve the resolution #1-20-19, Authorization Resolution representative for recycling.  Motion approved 4-0.

Halloween – K. Olsen made a motion, seconded by R. Burns to hold Halloween on October 31st this year.

Hours will be 4-7PM

Fay property – They have not responded to the Raze Order.  J. Riggenbach made a motion, seconded by R. Burns to continue with the Raze order on 247 Blain St.  Motion passed 4-0.

Next meeting will be October 14, 2019

K. Olsen made a motion to adjourn, seconded by J. Riggenbach.  Motion approved 4-0.
