Village Board Meeting Minutes – 4/12/21

 Board Regular Meeting

April 12, 2021

Present: K. Trzebiatowski, R. Burns, C. Schmidt, S. Bunders, H. Burns C. Smith,

Visitors:  David Schauer, Kevin Fenske, David Johnson

Pledge of Allegiance was said

Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by President K. Trzebiatowski

S. Bunders made a motion, seconded by C. Schmidt to approve the March minutes.  Motion approved 4-0.

Treasurer’s Report:  H. Burns gave the treasurer’s report.   R. Burns made a motion, seconded by S. Bunders to accept the Treasurer’s report.  Motion approved 4-0.   

Finance – S. Bunders gave the finance report.  C. Schmidt made a motion, seconded by S. Bunders to pay the bills.  Motion approved 4-0.  R. Burns made a motion, seconded by C. Schmidt to transfer $30,000.00 from the sewer account into the sewer replacement account.  Motion approved 4-0

Fire/EMS – None

Properties – The middle school has requested use of the softball diamonds and storage shed for playing ball this summer.  S. Bunders made a motion, seconded by R. Burns to approved the usage of the diamonds and shed.  Motion approved 4-0.

Ordinance/Personnel – R. Burns made a motion, seconded by S. Bunders to change ordinance 222-a and 223-b to read third Tuesday in April instead of the 2nd Monday in April according to state statute 61.23-2.  The President and Trustees shall be elected for a term of 2 years commencing on the 3rd Tuesday of April in the year of their election.

Discussion was held on the violation of Village Ordinance #8-4-2B (3) pertaining to accumulation of trash, rubbish, scrap metals and other materials.  If this does not get addressed and the committee is not satisfied it will send out a 2nd notice.  Will revisit this issue at the May board meeting.

In May the Attorney and Building Inspector will be appointed by the President for a two-year term.

Equipment –Dave is looking at a new motor for the sweeper.  R. Burns made a motion, seconded by C. Schmidt to have Dave get the best price and get one.  Motion approved 4-0   Dave is rebuilding the power sweeper.

Zoning –One remodel on a deck

Cemetery – Our new sign has arrived.  Dave is working on painting and fixing the sign frame before mounting it.

Beautification – Betty would like a hose to help water the flowers Infront of the municipal building.  Dave said he has one.  Will get it fixed up for her.  Dave is going to look into new garbage cans.  Ours are getting rotten.

Media/Sewer Clerk –President would like to see the voting results on the website.

Public Works – Dave is starting to do cold patching on the streets.

R. Burns made a motion, second by C. Schmidt to not hold the electronic pickup this year but later again.  Motion approved 4-0

Garbage/recycling discussion was held.  Will meet with the Town Board to further discuss this.

The Almond Village board presented Ken Trzebiatowski with a plaque for retirement from the board for the 31 years of service he has dedicated to the Village of Almond.  It has been greatly appreciated and wish him well in his retirement.

The Village also purchased a plaque for Jim Riggenbach in recognition of his retirement from the board for  5 years of dedicated service.  This will be presented to him at a later date.  We wish him well in his retirement also.

R. Burns made a motion, seconded by S. Bunders to adjourn.  Motion passed 4-0
